The Tuba Euphonium Ensemble at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke was founded in 2007, and has been performing ever since across campus and throughout the region. Directed by Dr. Joanna Ross Hersey, the ensemble is made up of students earning degrees and certificates in Music Education, Music Business and Music Performance. The UNCP Tuba Euphonium Ensemble presents Octubafest, TubaChristmas, and other events on campus each year, including providing accompaniment to the annual Holiday Tree Lighting ceremony. The ensemble has worked with tuba euphonium and brass performance artists from across the world, including Oystein Baadsvik, Demondrae Thurman, Gail Robertson, Dennis Askew, Danny Vinson, Tom Holtz, Chris Quade, Andrew Hitz, Lance LaDuke, Stacy Baker, JoAnn Lamolino and more. The UNCP Tuba Euphonium Ensemble recently presented a recital in Jacksonville, Florida at the Southeast Tuba Euphonium Conference held at the University of North Florida. Graduates of the ensemble are now out teaching a new generation of students to love the tuba and euphonium!
