Main Braves Kickoff Event (Mandatory)
Braves Kickoff is held annually on the UNCP campus to celebrate the university's accomplishments; promote a culture of professional development and mission-centered work; cultivate transparency and effective communication; and foster a sense of belonging for all university employees.
This year's all-employee event will be held:
Wednesday, Aug. 14
10 a.m. to 1 p.m
Givens Performing Arts Center
This event is mandatory for all employees.
Lunch will be served at noon in both the U.C. Annex and the Student Center. Attendees are encouraged to walk the poster gallery at both locations during lunch to learn more about the outstanding work being done through the Enrollment, Retention, Persistence Innovation (ERPI) fund.

Mandatory Faculty Meeting

Attendance is required for all full-time faculty. Part-time faculty are welcome to attend. Academic Affairs and General Counsel will provide an overview of UNC System Policy updates including policies related to Program Review, Accreditation, Post Tenure Review and Teaching Effectiveness and Equality. Newly-tenured faculty will also be recognized.
Thursday, Aug. 15, 2024| Day Two
Faculty Professional Development

10 a.m.-Noon
Open to all faculty.
The Teaching and Learning Center in partnership with Academic Affairs will host two professional development
sessions to start the new academic year. Each one hour session will run concurrently at 10 a.m. and repeat at 11 a.m.
- Session 1: AI Join colleagues to learn about AI in the classroom including discussion about how AI is changing our teaching and our disciplines. We'll also begin to share strategies to incorporate AI in classes to prepare students for a changing workplace.
- Session 2: iGen and Classroom Management This session will provide the latest research on characteristics of today's students. A better understanding of today's college students can create pathways for smoother classroom experiences.
General Faculty Meeting

This event is open to all faculty.
Sponsored by the Faculty Senate, this meeting will include updates from Faculty Senate and administration, the
introduction of new faculty and the installation of the 2024-25 Faculty Senate leadership.
Chancellor’s Welcome Back Reception

Everyone is invited to attend the Chancellor’s Welcome Back Reception in celebration of the beginning of the 2024-25 academic year.
