- Local Access:
- On campus PCs logged into the network, open File Explorer and find it located under This PC.
- Remote Access:
- Secure access is available. Campus users can access network drives, Banner and other internal network resources using Nutanix Frame from off campus.
- VPN is available, but only provided for users who require special access. Click here for instructions on how to access files remotely.
K: Drive for Departmental Shared File Storage
Most departments have folders on the K: drive that can be accessed by specific people within that department. Administrative assistants or department heads may request access for employees.
Mapping a Network Drive
Windows Machines
- Right click on “This PC” and then click on “Map Network Drive...”
- Under the Folder section, type the appropriate path:
- \\files.uncp.edu\shared (K: Drive - Shared drive)
- Check “Reconnect at sign-in” and press enter.
- If a login window opens, enter your username and password.
- The drive will open and will also be available for access under This PC.
Macs
- From the Mac OS X Finder, hit Command+K to bring up the 'Connect to Server' window.
- Enter the path to the network drive you want to map, example:
- smb://files.uncp.edu/shared (K: Drive - Shared drive)
- Enter your username and password, and click 'OK' to mount the network drive.
- The drive will now appear on your desktop and in the Finder window sidebar.
