The University North Carolina Pembroke Social Studies Education Program Students in Action
The Social Studies Education program is committed to preparing social studies educators in public middle and secondary schools across the State of North Carolina. We develop leaders in social studies education. Our curriculum is designed to provide students with coursework in social studies education methods, inquiry-based learning, disciplinary literacy pedagogy, teaching with technology, and over 60 hours of field experience. The Social Studies Education Program is dedicated to offering students an array of content classes that include the major in history and a social science collateral in political science, geography, economics, psychology, and sociology.
